Going through back issues at the local comic book store, I chanced upon this cover.

Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt Issue #7. Circa 1992.
I love it when something so seemingly unimportant unleashes all these associated memories ranging from food smells to parental admonishments. It’s been happening a lot lately.
Something this profound deserves a nostalgic albeit narcissistic rant. Damn my inarticulacy.

duh
I see that you are reading The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana. I love that book. And I can totally relate to what you say about associative memory. Especially associative memory triggered by random pieces of pop culture consumed during childhood. My biggest mysterious flame moment ever was right before I left India -while sorting through some of the junk I had in my grandfather's attic – G.I.Joe action figures, old Phantom comics, some crappy poetry…
For me, it'd be Thundercats action figures, comic books, the politically correct versions of the Brothers Grimm tales and what not. And you're right; Mysterious Flame really appeals to a certain subset. It's brilliant relating to it.
er, nothing to add to the comics, but that nostalgia bit? Dude, you're growing up (old) :p
Sigh. Perhaps. 25 *is* old no?
this is me waving back, pee.
d and i 'reminisced' last night after you walked by. much missing.
Likewise milady.
